Catskill Chill 2012
The Jam style continued right into the festival as the ShwizZ and FiKus's cabin housed two nights of unannounced music that continued on into late morning. Weaving a menagerie of light and sound, trollers couldn't help but check out this late night attraction.
Catskill Chill takes place in Camp Minglewood, located in Hancock, NY. This is a music festival in a summer camp, equipped with cabins that sleep 16 people each and a labyrinth of paths that weave an intricate camping subculture. With access to clean bathrooms and showers, the cabin experience at Catskill Chill provides a different dimension to the music festival experience. The cabins came in extra handy this year when the festival enacted its emergency action plan facing reports of fast moving potentially hazardous weather. The entire compound is surrounded by shelter and experienced festival goers came to appreciate the ability to retreat from a potentially hazardous situation. Even though music shut down temporarily to address production concerns, music and joy could be heard bubbling from various corners of the campsite as people continued to play music and make the best of the situation. Music was only temporarily delayed and the schedule was reorganized and distributed to allow for the festival to continue as if nothing had happened.

Kung Fu Live at the Catskill Chill 9/7/12 "Stratus"
The Festival boasted shortly after the close of the third annual weekend that the Chill community maintained yet another perfect safety record. This marks three years of no one leaving the property for medical reasons. Catskill Chill does a great job at maintaining a clean and fun festival atmosphere with out being intrusive to the experience. Crowds have grown exponentially over the last three years and each year Chill has grown drastically with out sacrificing the intimate experience.

Catskill Chill is the home to some great grass roots vendors. One of our favorite vendors is the Spiritual Haze Hookah Tent! We met Vicky (owner) and the rest of the haze at the very first Chill! Over the last three years we've gotten to hang with them at festivals like Mountain Jam, Camp Bisco and Catskill Chill just to name a few. A festival just isn't a festival with out the Haze!
